Q
Do I have to go to the preferred shop recommended by my insurance company?
A
Not at all. You choose the body shop you want your car to be fixed in.

Don’t be steered into another accident by your insurance company or the other parties’ insurance company. Did you know many insurance companies have controlling ownership in many of today’s auto body shops. Makes you wonder who the customer really is. We do not wonder who the customer is here, it is you.

Jack Coleman’s does not participate in any of these programs what so ever.In NYS it is a violation of the Regulations for any insurance company, appraiser or associate to even suggest that you travel or have your vehicle towed to a “shop on the list” and that associate or individual can be finned for such comments. Some personal can be subtle in their “suggestions” and others can be somewhat intimidating, using such word tracks as “we will not be able to look at your car for days if you go to your shop” and “our policy is you go to one of our participating shops for the initial estimate” or “your shop is difficult to deal with” and on and on the word tracks go…

Don’t be fooled by statements like this, these “shops on the list” have agreed to work for the insurance company on their terms. They are not necessarily looking out for your best interests, these referral shops were developed by the insurance company in order to reduce costs on their claims and improve insurance company profits. As an educated consumer, you need to ask yourself the question: Do I want my vehicle repaired by a referral shop looking out for the insurance company’s best interest or, should I choose a repair facility that is looking out for my personal interest?

Remember, you have the LEGAL RIGHT to choose the auto repair facility of your choice, on that will advocate for your rights and assist you in getting your vehicle repaired properly and safely.

Jack Coleman’s in NOT on any insurance company referral list BY CHOICE – we are a consumer shop, here for you, the consumer. The quality of our repair work and our customers rights are priority one. Time and again, we have customers that bring insurance referral shop repaired vehicles with poor repair work and safety issues after they are dissatisfied with the referral shops work. It is really astonishing to see the overlooked repairs and carelessness that these shops deliver. And of course we repair them correctly or the vehicle is determined a total loss after our inspection.
